Course Overview

This conference is designed to provide an update on the most current evidence based diagnostic and treatment strategies for your patients.  It will focus on practical and clinical issues faced on a daily basis by the health care professional.  A combination of case presentations and didadic lectures will be used to provide an academically sound and clinically revelant cardiology review.

Course Objectives

Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  • Evaluate current risk stratifications and treatment strategies for patients presenting with acute heart failure.
  • Recognize invasive treatment options for chronic occluded coronary artery stenosis and other complex coronary interventions.
  • Outline approaches to treating the patient with atrial fibrilation and stroke including the use of newer pharmacological agents.
  • Describe available surgical techniques to mitral valve repair.
  • Differentiate between treatment options for patients diagnosed with  DVT/PTE.
  • Identify best practices for the cardiovascular screening of athletes.
  • Summarize evidence on diagnosis and current treatment of pulmonary hypertenison.

Accreditation:  Presbytrian Healthcare Services is accredited by the New Mexico Medical Society (NMMS) to provide Continuing Medical Education for physicians.
AMA CreditPresbyterian Healthcare Services designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Nurses:  AMA PRA Category 1 Credit is recognized by the  New Mexico Board of Nursing.  Please refer to the NMNA website for more information.
Pharmacists:  AMA PRA Category 1 Credit is recognized by the NM Board of Pharmacy (NM Board of Pharmacy Regulation 16.19.4.10 B [1]).
