Pain Management and Opioid Therapy
This training supports the integrated substance use disorder (SUD) initiative between the health plan and delivery system. Learners will develop improved competency in initiating and managing treatment options for patients with chronic pain conditions. In addition, providers will gain tools to identify probable substance use disorders and assess and initiate evidence-based treatments. The Pain Management and Opioid Therapy course is offered in conjunction with the DATA 2000 Waiver course.

This course has been approved as meeting the New Mexico Medical Board's Pain Management CME requirement as set forth in 16.10.14 NMAC
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 4.0 MOC points (and patient safety MOC credit) in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
DATA 2000 Waiver: Suboxone Certification
Prescribers will gain practical knowledge and skills relevant for the treatment and care of patients presenting with acute and/or chronic substance use disorders, including opioid use disorder, and/or withdrawal. Qualified providers who complete the training will be eligible to apply for the Data 2000 Waiver, allowing them to prescribe buprenorphine for opioid use disorder and opioid withdrawal.
Please Note: Participants who register for the Data 2000 Waiver Course must take 4 hours of pre-course work online.
