with special guest presenter, Joan Borysenko, PhD
Objectives:
- To develop an understanding of how neurobiology discoveries can bridge mind and body in the wake of grief and loss, including tools for reducing stress and calming mind and body
- To examine eight positive emotions that can transcend religious and cultural boundaries influencing one’s ability to grieve and to discover meaning out of suffering
- To explore how illness and death can become rites of passage when encountering serious illness or death

Culture, Clarity and Compassion at the End of Life
with special guest presenter, David Kessler, MA
Objectives:
- To discover ways to discuss end-of-life issues while allowing miracles and hope
- To understand how cultural diversity shapes end-of-life care
- To identify ways to facilitate communication among the family and professional caregivers
- To describe tools to help children cope with a loved one dying
- To outline the role of spirituality and its role in the last years of life
Insights, Tools and Strategies for Healing Grief
Objectives:
- To summarize appropriate responses to grief and mourning
- To understand why children are often the forgotten grievers and how to help them
- To identify mechanisms to help with complicated grieving
- To identify tools and interventions to be used by clinicians, hospitals, palliative care services and hospices when working with grief and loss
DAY 2 - FRIDAY AFTERNOON, JUNE 9, 2017

Promoting Quality Health and End-of-Life Care in New Mexico
with special guest presenter, Sunshine Muse, BA
Objectives:
- To develop an understanding of disparities and resulting inequities in health and end-of-life care across gender, cultural, language, economic and ethnic dimensions
- To examine ways to create and implement effective programs for health and end-of-life care intervention
- To explore mind-body connection drawing correlations between inequities in health and end-of-life care and physical and emotional healing
